This piggy bank lets a cheapskate boss know in a subtle way that low salaries and bad benefits are unacceptable.
The skinflint boss pays a lowly wage, nickels and dimes employees at every turn, and skimps or doesn't even provide benefits.
The best gift for them? An oversized piggy bank labeled "workers retirement fund" or "college fund for crew's kids." That will send a clear message that you're underpaid, said Karen Nussbaum, executive director of Working America, an AFL-CIO affiliate that runs an annual bad bosses' competition.
Employees who work overtime, but do not get paid for it, also can give piggy banks as gifts to their horrible bosses. An extra -- albeit risky -- touch is attaching to its snout a copy of the Fair Labor Standards Act or Working America's list of the 10 top workplace rights.
"Reminding employers of what their responsibilities are, legally, or ethically or humanly, can be really important," added Nussbaum, who's advocated for women's and workers rights for many years. "What better way to do it than on Bosses Day?"
