NEW YORK (CNNMoney) -- Gift basket retailer Harry & David Holdings, known for its Fruit of the Month Club and the popcorn snack Moose Munch, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection Monday.
Harry & David, based in Medford, Ore., will continue to operate the business as debtors under the jurisdiction of the bankruptcy court, according to their Chapter 11 filing.
The company has nearly $200 million in outstanding debt, according to the filing.
Harry & David produces fruit baskets and a variety of holiday-themed gift baskets, including Easter baskets with chocolate bunnies. It also sells other food items. It sells its products through catalogs, its website and in stores, which are primarily in factory outlet malls across the nation.
