Green cars from the Frankfurt Motor Show

At the European auto show, car makers are showing off plans for fuel-sipping cars of the future as well as a few for today.

Ford Verve concept
The Verve is a design exercise aimed at testing out some ideas for a future small car that Ford would sell globally. This is the first of three concepts that will debut in Europe, Asia and North America.

The concept's colors were inspired by fashion and cosmetics, Ford says. The company hopes to gauge public perception as it decides which features to include in the final production car.
