The Geneisis represents a big leap in the U.S. market for Hyundai, a company that was, until recently, known mostly for making inexpensive small cars that competed as cheaper alternatives to entry-level Japanese cars.

With prices starting at about $30,000 for V6-powered versions and offering an optional V8 engine, the Genesis is designed to offer a luxury car look and feel at the price of a nice mid-size sedan.
