A pair of electric motors help the Prius make the most efficient possible use of its 1.5-liter 4-cylinder engine, giving it the highest fuel economy of any mass-market car sold in America.The Prius has a sizable battery pack which, because of their chemical content, raises environmental questions regarding manufacturing and disposal. ACEEE does not see hybrid batteries as posing a significant environmental problem saying that a car's biggest environmental impact by far comes from its use.
