In August, Morparia, 59, was appointed J.P. Morgan's first-ever CEO for India. A lawyer turned banker who held top posts at India's ICICI Bank, where she worked for 33 years, Morparia is respected in India's business and government centers--as well as at J.P. Morgan headquarters in New York City, where she serves on a corporate global-strategy committee. She aims to expand the bank's corporate loans business and later help develop a corporate debt market.
