Angel Johnstone's Undercover Ware had lingerie and sex toys to trade. The 32-year-old business throws adult-themed, in-house parties for clients. Think Tupperware parties, but "much more fun" and with vibrators.
Johnstone uses barter to network and trade for household services and to generate new customers. The shows "give me a lot of business and a lot of referrals," she said. "It certainly helps to keep cash flowing."
People she's met through the barter network have gone on to become repeat customers on her Web site, placing orders for hundreds of dollars worth of her "romantic accessories." Those are sales she says she wouldn't have made otherwise.
