A company owned jointly by Dow Chemical and Corning Inc., Dow Corning makes 7,000 silicone products and applications for use in a variety of ways in almost every industry. The company has worldwide sales of $9 billion, nearly $4 billion in the U.S. Dow Corning recently emerged from a nine-year bankruptcy ending in 2004, which it was forced into by a torrent of lawsuits brought on behalf of women who had opted for silicone breast implants.

Despite bad press, Dow Corning has developed a very strong culture where women excel. They hold 23 percent of management positions, including CEO. The company pays at or above the pay levels of comparable companies, has very good leave programs (16 days of vacation after one year), a 401k match of 100 percent up to 5 percent of pay and a pension plan.
