Its $86 billion acquisition of BellSouth in 2006 was the largest in telecom history, and it absorbed Cingular to become the biggest wireless carrier in the United States. The blue chip stock is once again dominating the U.S. phone business, with 61 million wireless customers, the biggest long-distance and Internet networks, and earnings growth in 2006 of 54%. Revenues are up 44% over last year.
