Why we chose it: Socially and environmentally conscious Boulder is an ideal setting for studying sustainable business and social entrepreneurship. But Deming is a serious academic institution grounded in research. "This isn't just fluff," director Paul Jerde says. "It's founded in solid theory and an understanding of what's happening in the world." There are courses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels in topics such as sustainable venturing. Students have the option of concentrating in both environmental studies and entrepreneurship through the Joint Environmental Studies MBA Program. They can also participate in conferences such as the Sustainable Opportunity Summit and the Clean Tech Challenge.
