This sprawling Chicago suburb is probably best known for a still-thriving agricultural trade but its 30 percent employment growth since 2001 can also be traced to a healthy restaurant business and gains in construction. Wide-open spaces in Kendall County have led to a big surge in subdivisions, prompting concerns over whether growth is being managed appropriately.
