Our next hero comes to us from the Wachowski Brothers, makers of "The Matrix" series, whose penchant for eye-popping special effects will be on full display in "Speed Racer."
The Wachowskis revive the 1960s Japanese cartoon hero and his four-wheeled sidekick, the Mach 5, in a highly digitized story about Speed Racer (that's his name) and his fight to save the Racer family business from a hostile takeover by the evil Royalton Industries.
But "Speed Racer" could be a "tough sell," Pandya said. It opens during a very competitive month and the Speed Racer brand is not as well known as the other movies coming out in May, he added.
The movie also stars some well-known actors -- Emile Hirsch, Christina Ricci, Susan Sarandon and John Goodman -- but no huge box-office draws.
