Based on the book by C.S. Lewis, "The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian," is the first sequel on our list.
In 2005, "The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe" brought in more than $744 million worldwide. And with seven novels in the Chronicles of Narnia series, the project has the potential to be a long-running franchise.
The first Narnia film, "was very well received by its target audience," said Brandon Gray, president of Box Office Mojo. But compared to the "Lord of the Rings" trilogy, which appeals to the same demographic, the level of excitement for the Narnia series is less robust, Gray said.
"It would be a surprise if the sequel does better than its predecessor," he added.
The film picks up the adventures of the four Pevensie children in Narnia, a parallel universe they escape to after being shipped off to the English countryside.
