Price: $675,000
This condo -- with access to a putting green and croquet lawn near the white sand beach of Sand Key -- would have sold for more than $900,000 three years ago, says agent Tom Smith of Keller Williams Gulfside Realty.
That's unlikely today, but in the No. 1 state for retirees, Tampa is still an attractive alternative to Florida's pricey East Coast and landlocked central communities, with prices that were 30% to 40% less than Miami's during the boom. Prices are down 22% over last year in Tampa Bay (though hurricane-insurance premiums can add to the cost).
