The new Escape will be available with a choice of three four-cylinder engines. The "base" model will have a 2.5-liter engine capable of producing about 168 horsepower. Two turbucharged engines will also be available. One will be a 1.6-liter engine producing a projected 173 horsepower. (This will also be the most fuel-efficient of the three) and a 237-horsepower 2.0-liter turbo engine.
All versions of the new Escape will have six-speed automatic transmissions.
