Akamai's (AKAM) stock had a stellar run in 2010, with shares surging 86%, but the stock has since shifted gears. In fact, this year's 40% plunge has sent shares back to levels last seen in March 2010.
The first blow to the company's stock price came in February, when Akamai, which provides technology that makes the Internet faster and handles web services for companies including Netflix (NFLX), said its competitors are forcing it to lower prices for web streaming.
Shares slid again in April after the company's guidance for second-quarter earnings fell short of Wall Street's forecast.
But a majority analysts are optimistic Akamai's stock will once again reverse course as Internet usage continues to surge and drive the company's earnings higher.
