Hollywood hopes big stars equal big blockbusters

After a record-breaking summer, the major movie studios are banking on the Toms (Hanks and Cruise), Julia, Nicole and Angelina to keep churning out box-office hits this fall.

Every fall there is a big computer-generated animation film on tap to keep the kiddies happy, and this autumn is no exception with "Bee Movie".

But this year, the big cartoon that's generating a lot of buzz (couldn't resist) may also attract many older fans as well, since the movie features the voice of and was written by comedy legend Jerry Seinfeld.

"There is a lot to look forward with in 'Bee Movie' and it should appeal to kids and many adults because of Seinfeld," said Chad Hartigan, an analyst with Exhibitor Relations.

The movie, about a bee in New York City (where else?), also features other well-known actors contributing their vocal talents, including Renee Zelwegger, John Goodman, Chris Rock and Matthew Broderick.

DreamWorks Animation has already proven, thanks to hits such as "Madagascar" and "Over the Hedge," that it isn't all about the "Shrek" franchise. And BoxOfficeGuru's Pandya said there is limited competition on the animated front this fall. In particular, there is nothing coming out from Disney's Pixar.

So that paves the way for "Bee Movie" to generate a lot of honey, I mean, money, this fall.
