You'll recognize owner Alison Barakat by her bright blue wig. Barakat, 35, founded the store after graduating from a program offered by Women's Initiative, a local nonprofit that provides funding and education for low-income women. Now her fluffy scones, a favorite of California first lady Maria Shriver, are served regularly at the governor's mansion in Sacramento.
