Telecom equipment makers Alcatel and Lucent finally tied the knot last year, but the price was steep: merger-related restructuring costs approached $1 billion. The combined company also disclosed that wireless-service providers were dropping its products on concerns about its prospects. In the first quarter this year, revenues were down $1.6 billion from the same period a year earlier.
