Since being promoted to the top spot last December, Gordon, 54, has taken the aggressive plan she devised for her North American division to the whole company. Instead of taking a defensive posture in response to competition from emerging markets, the MIT-trained mathematician-turned-manager has added new plants in Russia and India.
