One of the biggest gainers on this year's list was France Télécom, which ranked No. 46 last year. In order to improve its corporate citizenship, the Paris-based corporation has created strict processes and reporting practices, and it has launched an extranet for sharing ideas with outsiders. France Télécom uses the research to initiate programs that benefit users and the communities it serves. Recent initiatives include the installation of solar power units in Senegal to extend network coverage, and the creation of Internet-based education programs for students in Jordan.
