There's plenty of short seller interest in Netflix (NFLX), but shares of the online video rental and movie streaming site have more than doubled in the last year, as a rapidly growing subscriber base continues to drive the company's earnings.
Netflix said it has 23.6 million users, up 70% from a year ago and 4% more than the number of people who subscribe to Comcast (CMCSA), the largest cable TV operator in the U.S.
"Netflix has clearly vanquished the physical DVD competition and there's not much true competition for its streaming service either," said Richard England, manager of the Calvert Equity Portfolio (CSIEX). Netflix is a top holding in the fund.
England says Netlfix has plenty of room to grow throughout North America, and other geographic regions.
Analysts at Bank of America target Netflix shares at $275, up almost 20% from its current price.
