Why we chose it: The Donald doesn't participate, but students can enter the CMU Apprentice competition, during which three teams of students compete to show who can come up with a new marketing strategy for the university bookstore and manage the place for four to five hours. The team with the highest percentage sales increase receives a semester's worth of free or discounted books. This event is sponsored by the Undergraduate Entrepreneur Association, which also runs an on-campus tee-shirt printing business, a bartending school and a coffee stand. The association is open to students from all of the university's schools. Academic opportunities for interdisciplinary study include minors in business administration at The Tepper School of Business, open to all majors, supply chain management for engineers and management for arts majors.
