Why we chose it: Music, theater, and studio art thrive at this bucolic midsized university. For the past four years, Wake Forest's Entrepreneurship in the Liberal Arts program has introduced the discipline into undergraduate courses that help liberal arts majors transition to the real world. On the graduate level, the university's business school recently launched a joint course with the medical school, the center for nanotechnology, and the center for regenerative growth that pairs graduate student teams with university scientists to build business models around cutting-edge intellectual property.
