The object of near-universal mockery, even in its day, the blob-bodied Pacer has become a car lovers' anti-hero. As is often the case with beloved classic cars, the Pacer is a striking reminder of a certain place and time: late 70s suburbia.
A Pacer fan probably has a few disco LP's in the closet, too, said McKeel Hagerty, president of Hagerty Insurance. A starring role in the cult movie "Wayne's World" no doubt helped mark the car for fame as well.
