The first woman to sit on a Siemens board in its 160-year history and the only woman on the board of a DAX 30 industrial company, Kux, 55, is in charge of procuring more than $55 billion worth of goods, ranging from medical detectors to steam generators.
She's aiming to increase sourcing from emerging markets from 20% to 25%, and sustainability is also high on her agenda. One quarter of Siemens revenues, $27 billion in fiscal 2008, came from green technologies, such as wind farms and energy efficient trains.
