My background is exercise physiology and wellness and I wasn't satisfied in that profession. Qualcomm was looking for someone to come in and work in the fitness centers. I started back in the fall of 1996 and I've been able to grow my position since then to being in charge of all the work/life balance programs for the company. Qualcomm has given me the freedom to explore and try new things. That has been something that is tremendously empowering.
For two years I was the scuba diving instructor for the company. I had a great passion for diving and it's been an extreme pleasure to introduce that world to new people. I did classroom instruction at an on-site pool and took employees out for a dive on the weekends. I've also taken people on ski trips. Skiing is another one of my big things and we do about three trips a year. It's really built up a lot of camaraderie. I feel like I have one of the coolest jobs on the face of the earth because I've gotten to do some of the coolest things.
