Papio, as the locals call it, prides itself on its parks, its schools and its low crime rate.
Parks make up almost 30% of the town and students in the area often rank among the top in the state in SAT scores. The city's police department is one of the few in the nation that requires officers to have a college education.
While many residents commute to nearby Omaha, the city has many new and long-standing businesses that support the local economy.
Papillion, which means butterfly in French, is said to have been named by early fur traders. --B.R.
