I like to hit a fairway wood on this steep downhill par 4 because being in the fairway is a necessity if you're going to attack the pin with your second shot. This is our only forced carry second shot on the golf course, and we did this to keep the native mountain stream in front of the green and the natural rock outcropping on the hillside.
A cautionary tale: On one of my many site visits during construction I discovered that a small family of bears was living about 500 yards downstream from this green. They had apparently found a small winter hibernation cave in the same outcropping we saved!
