Our intent was to finish with a challenging par-4 that requires a long-iron second shot, something that's becoming increasingly difficult because of modern technology and the distance today's players can hit the ball.
Although this seems like an extremely long hole, it plays downhill the entire way. Still, the yardage alone makes it intimidating to some, and often results in players trying too hard to squeeze a few extra yards out of their tee shot.
Additionally, we limited the view of the fairway by clearing a corridor where the left side is hidden by native trees. This tee shot is much wider than the player can see from the tee, so while we have provided a very generous landing area, it doesn't look that way. Visual intimidation is a great tool for designers! You're then left with a lengthy approach to a green protected by a stream on the front left. A large collection area to the right allows players to hit away from the hazard.
